Yesterday Apple stock value fell by over 6%, the highest depreciation recorded by the company in the last four years. Over 30 billion dollars disappeared from the market capitalization value, 37 million shares were exchanged for stock and finally nobody knows for sure what caused this decline. Whether it’s the alleged case of iPhone 5S, be it a possible failure of negotiations to reduce U.S. tax purposes, be it on Android tablets that steal market share from the iPad, the end result is the same.
The iPhone 5 has yet to be available globally but the news of its replacement is already around. We aren’t talking about the iPhone 6 but rather an iPhone 5S instead. DigiTimes reported that according to the China based Commercial Times, the trial production for the next generation iPhone is expected to start some time in December. In fact, this may also mean that the announcement for the iPhone 5S will possibly be earlier as compared with the ones before.
Based on this, it seems that it may be possible that the first trial batch will be around 50,000 – 100,000 and volume production will take place later in the first quarter of 2013. With this being said and done, the iPhone 5S will be a minor upgrade to the iPhone 5 before being replaced with the iPhone 6 possibly in 2014.
In other news, an analyst at Sterne Agee mentioned that it is possible for Apple to receive up to $8 for every Android device that HTC sells. This is based on conversations with industry sources. This also means that it will generate as much as $280 million for Apple as HTC sells roughly 35 million Android devices annually.
You might be wondering as to how dominant touch devices can be today. This is because everyone uses them nowadays and it only makes sense that a large chunk of the mobile internet usage is done on touch-enabled devices. Thus, a study on the use of mobile devices to browse internet was recently done and not surprisingly, 94% of the mobile internet users make use of touch devices.
The BlackBerry used to be the device to go to for enterprise solution. However, this may not be the case anymore. As reported by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, they have planned to end their eight-year relationship with Research In Motion on their BlackBerry device. Instead of using the aforementioned device, the agency will instead make use of the Apple made iPhone.
This move is a critical blow to Research in Motion which is already struggling to keep itself afloat after finding that it has been suffering from losses after losses. This is because the company has been losing market share to competing devices such as the Apple iPhone and Google Android devices. In fact, ICE is already planning to spend more than $2.1 million to purchase the iPhone for its 17,000 employees. The reason for the change is to have a platform that is more capable and dynamic to support ICE’s mission and personnel.
In addition to that, Apple has a strict control of its hardware platform and operating system. The platform is also used independent of the provider and provides the agency with a lot of control and management. Thus, it makes the move to the iPhone a relevant one.
