iH8sn0w released the beta 6 version of sn0wbreeze 2.8, software that allows us to make a custom ipsw jailbroken for iOS 5. Sn0wbreeze 2.8 keep baseband intact during the update so if you have the iPhone that needs to unlock, with Gevey 3G or ultrasn0w you can rest assured but I have not tested ultrasn0w on iOS 5 so I cannot tell if it works or not.
This version of the program is not compatible with iPad 2 so do not try to use it with your iPad 2. Sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 6 is available for everyone even if you do not have your UDID registered and iH8sn0w included the option to disable the expiry date of these beta versions of iOS 5.

sn0wbreeze v2.8b2 released to support iOS 5 beta 1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3Gs old bootrom.
With sn0wbreeze v2.8b2, you will be able to jailbreak iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch iOS 5 beta 1 (except iPad 2) focused on iPhone 3GS old bootrom version, you can jailbreak iOS 5 beta 1 untethered. Check your iPhone 3Gs production week, if the production week is no later 40, then you most probably have iPhone 3GS bootrom version.
sn0wbreeze-v2.8b2 doesn’t hacktivate your device, which means you must be a legit developer with UDID registered, or you may register UDID via UDID activation online services.

If the UDID your device is not activated as registered device in iOS Provisioning Portal, you will most likely getting this error on iTunes after restore to iOS beta.
We’re unable to complete your activation.
This device is not registered as part of the iPhone Developer Program.
If you are a member of the Program, please register your device in the iPhone
Developer Program Portal.
In order to install iOS beta version (such as iOS 4 beta or iOS 5 beta), you will need to be registered as iOS developer and add device ID (UDID) to provisioning portal.
Otherwise, if you don’t want to pay $99 only to let you trying new features iOS beta version, you can ask existing developer (family, friends, someone forum, etc) to add your device to provisioning portal for free. If you don’t know anyone that will let you add UDID for free, you can spent a few bucks to activate UDID using online services which offering UDID activation service.
