Rumors: iPhone 5 with A6 processor?

by Costea Lestoc on August 30, 2012

The best processor that you can get out of any iOS device is the A5X processor which is available on the new iPad. In fact, it was first expected that the iPhone 5 will come with a variant of the A5X processor. However, based on a leaked photo of the iPhone 5 parts that were published recently, it seems that the A5X processor has been taken out of the equation for the next generation iPhone.

Instead of using the A5X processor, the iPhone 5 will be using the next-gen processor and we are talking about the A6 processor. The difference between the A6 and the A5X is that the A5X processor is a dual-core but with a quad-core graphics processing unit. For the A6 processor, it is expected that the component will be a quad-core CPU instead. This means that it will battle with the likes of Samsung’s Exynos, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 and a few other quad-core processors which are of the same par.

With this being said and done, there might be massive improvements in performance when it comes to the iPhone 5. Knowing how well Apple optimizes their operating system, much of that performance can be translated to better applications (games of course).
