iPhone initial prototypes unveiled on Apple-Samsung trial

by Costea Lestoc on August 3, 2012

A lot of things have happened on the Apple-Samsung trial which has been ongoing for quite some time already. Right now it seems that Samsung is at the losing side of the battle since it already had a few devices banned in different countries. However, one of the rather interesting aspect of this trial is that a few of Apple’s first prototypes were shown in the trial and all of them had a unique concept at the time.
In one document that was shown in the court, Apple stated that it had considered using curved glass for the iPhone. In fact, a lot of things were done to make that design come into being but it was later scratched as the curved glass design would have costed a lot of money at that time. In addition to that, there was also a design of the iPhone which was a bit like the iPod Nano at that time but that wasn’t made into production either since there were a lot of difficulties, especially with getting the antenna working on a full aluminium jacket enclosure.
These aren’t everything that was disclosed but were just some of the many things. In fact, past designs of the iPad were also shown in the trial as well.
