When it comes to screens, bigger screen size often means an increase in both the width and the height of the screen. However, the same cannot be said about the iPhone 5 because instead of increasing both aspects, the company had decided to retain the same width but modified its height only. Thus, what you get is just an extra 0.5-inch to the iPhone. Before you start complaining, you might want to ponder why Apple does this. The reason is no other than productivity.
As compared with any other phones in the market, anything larger than 4-inch and you will find yourself needing both hands to do the typing. In fact, it is rather hard to navigate your way through a phone with a big screen estate. Take the Galaxy Note for example. It is certainly a good phone for those that wants a big screen but it will take some effort to hold it with one hand.
The iPhone on the other hand retains its width and because of that, the grip for the phone is just the same as compared with the iPhone 4S. However, thanks to the longer screen, you can add in more things to it without sacrificing your productivity.
