iOS 6.1.3 Was Released by Apple

Moments ago Apple released iOS 6.1.3 for iPhone owner, the new version of the operating system allowed the removal solving bugs of LockScreen Passcode, bringing some news for Apple Maps of Japan and blocking the untethered evasi0n jailbreak solution. The new version of iOS is available for all iPhones, but if you did already made a jailbreak with evasi0n you will not see any Software Updates available in your terminal.

You cannot make OTA Update if you already have made a jailbreak, so make sure you do not “accidentally update” in iTunes because only on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G will be able to restore to an old version of iOS 6 if you have your SHSH saved.

There is almost zero chance that Evad3rs to make evasi0n compatible with iOS 6.1.3, so until the iOS 7 launch, you don’t have to think that there could be a different jailbreak solution for your device..

iPhone 5 iOS 6 jailbreak – The future looks bright, according to hackers

In recent months we have all complained of lack of a jailbreak solution for iOS 6, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPad 4, etc., and we blamed the hackers that have developed it. Although there were people who said that the development process is difficult and hackers are working hard, in fact they have taken a long vacation and have just returned to work.

Only last week Planetbeing and Pod2G along with several others lesser-known hackers have resumed the search for vulnerabilities in iOS, and found new vulnerabilities that will help them for a public launch.

Now hackers have returned to work, given that in just 5 days iOS 6.1 beta 4 will expire and there is a good chance that iOS 6.1 finally arrive in iTunes, and users will be happy after waiting for 4 months. Although the development work for these jailbreak solutions have appreciated donations to be made, I think in the future would not hurt to know whether or not someone is working to develop a jailbreak solutions since last year few have done it and many were induced the idea that the solution is in development, when in fact no such thing happens.

Untethered iPhone 5 Available for Hackers Already

While people are anxious to get their hands on a jailbreak for their iPhone 5, it seems that there are already hackers that have managed to get their hands on untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.2 and for the iPhone 5. planetbeing, who is a member of the iPhone Dev Team has mentioned on Reddit that he already has an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.2 for the iPhone 5.

To make matters even more interesting, iOS 6.0.2 is the version that has yet to be released for the public but one that is already available for developers. However, there are reasons why the jailbreak is not made public yet. Planetbeing mentioned that one of it is because they want to preserve the exploit so that they can save the jailbreaking scene in the future. In addition to that, they also want to wait for the exploit to be used on a major version instead such as the iOS 6.1.

He also stated that the jailbreak that he has is fully untethered meaning that it can also run MobileSubstrate which is an application required for jailbreak tweak. While we can’t wait for the release of the jailbreak, we do hope that it won’t mean a longer release date for future jailbreaks.

Pod2g talks iOS 6 Jailbreak

Those that have upgraded their iOS devices to iOS 6 may have some problems especially if they are used to jailbreaking their devices. Up until now, there has yet to be a working untethered jailbreak for these devices. This also means that the iOS 6 is one of the longest releases without a working jailbreak. Cyril or better known as pod2g, was interviewed by Sebastian Page and here are some of his words on the jailbreaking scene at the moment.

As far as the jailbreaking scene is concerned, he is sure that the iOS 6 will be jailbroken anytime within the 6 months and developers will also create new innovative apps for the community. However, he mentioned that Apple should open up and allow people to install unsigned application instead like the Mac OS X. He also commented on chpwn’s method of jailbreaking which isn’t possible to be used to the public community as it makes use of a developer’s certificate instead.

Pod2g has yet to start working on an iOS 6 jailbreak considering that he is occupied with creating his own company at the moment. However, a lot of people in the jailbreaking scene is hoping for his intervention although that might come a little late instead.

How to jailbreak iOS 6.1 beta 2 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod 4G with RedSn0w 0.9.15b3

If you have upgraded to iOS 6.1 beta and you own an A4 device, then we have a good news for you – RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 works for all devices running A4 or earlier. This means it’s good for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4G .

This is a tethered jailbreak which means that you have to connect your device to the PC and “boot tethered” every time your device restarts or shuts down.

Before jailbreaking, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and take a backup of your data via iTunes or iCloud .

Steps :

1. Download the iOS 6 IPSW for your device:

iPhone 4 (GSM, CDMA)
iPhone 3GS
iPod 4G

2. Download redsn0w 0.9.15b3 for Windows or Mac.

3. Once downloaded, extract and open redsnow. Right click and select “run as administrator” on windows or Command + Click on Mac.

4. Now choose “Extras”, “Select IPSW” and select the iOS 6 file which you downloaded in Step 1.

5. Once the IPSW has been identified, Click “Back”.

6. Connect your device to the PC and select “Jailbreak”.

7. Follow the instructions which appear on the screen to put your device into DFU mode.

8. Once done , Choose “Install Cydia” and click next . Your device will now get jailbroken.

9. Go back to “Extras” and select “Just Boot”.

Note : You have to perform Step 9 whenever your device restarts or shuts down.

Congratulations ! Your device is now jailbroken!

Jailbreak for iPhone 5 on December 22?

The iPhone 5 is the longest iPhone without a jailbreak solution since its launch. As of date, there is no way to get an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone. This isn’t because nobody is doing it. In fact, a lot of hackers have been playing around day and night for a proper jailbreak for the iPhone 5. The reason why no one got it right yet is simply because of the security measures implemented on the iPhone 5 that makes it very hard to jailbreak.

However, with all of this being said and done, it doesn’t mean that having an iPhone 5 jailbreak is impossible. A jailbreak team with the name Dream JB might just have the jailbreak solution for iPhone 5 users. In fact, they are so confident that they are giving out the release date for the jailbreak: December 22. To some, this is the day that they won’t see considering that it is the day after the world is supposed to end.

We can’t help but feel skeptical about the release of this particular jailbreak. In fact, people from the MacRumors forum feel the same and so does the Chronic Dev team. Either way, we have less than 2 weeks till 22^nd so there is nothing to do but wait.

iOS 6 untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak to come in weeks

The iPhone 5 has yet to have a working untethered jailbreak for it. The reason is that the iOS 6 present in the iPhone 5 has one of the toughest protections that Apple has ever applied for their devices. While this doesn’t mean that it is impossible for the hackers to get a working jailbreak, it is definitely a gruesome task. Joshua Hill or better known as p0sixninja recently tweeted saying that getting a working untethered jailbreak will be a slow process.

We did hear people falling to scams about a working jailbreak for iOS 6 though. EasyUnlockiPhone for example claimed that they already have a working jailbreak for iOS 6 where in reality they don’t. New iPhone owners may not be aware of this fact and some have parted with a lot of money out of their pocket. Lesson learnt is to know some of the seasoned iPhone hackers and wait for their free releases instead.

In other news, Will.i.Am has announced a new accessory for the iPhone camera. This accessory clips to the camera and increases the iPhone’s 8MP camera to 14MP. He mentioned that the accessory has its own sensor and flash thus allowing for a higher resolution camera.

iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreaking Updates

iOS 6 has been around for quite some time but there has yet to be a working jailbreak tool for the common user. All that there is at the moment is a failbreak which requires you to have a developer account with Apple. This poses a big problem because the following method is expensive and thus unable to be used by just about everyone.

As described by David aka planetbeing, he mentioned that some of the few exploits needed to make the jailbreak untethered is missing and thus it is still not possible to get a working untethered jailbreak. However, as far as his failbreak is concerned, it is working well with him describing the jailbreak as stable. There are still bugs that appear every now and then that he needs to settle but he mentioned that the toughest part is usually the initial jailbreaking but that apparently was covered.

All in all, the exact date of an untethered jailbreak has yet to be known but David mentioned that he along with the other hackers are doing their best to get it done. In fact, he mentioned that that he would have released a tool ASAP if it was already available.

iPad 4 Jailbroken

Previously, we have covered an article stating that the iPad Mini already had a working failbreak (needing a developer account to jailbreak). However, it seems that the same goes with the iPad 4 as well. The latest iPad had Cydia installed and the screenshot was taken by Grant Paul aka chpwn. It doesn’t look much different than the way things work with the iPad 3 but that is probably because the difference is on the hardware instead.

Based on the screenshot chpwn gave, it seems that the iPad 4 that he had failbreak is powered with the recently released iOS 6.0.1 operating system that was launched last week. However, the method of failbreaking the iPad was not released as not many people would have access to a developer account. Thus, as far as the untethered jailbreak is concerned, it will still take some time before that happens.

The iPad 4 is currently powered with the Apple A6X chip which is another variant of the Apple A6 chip present on the iPhone 5. It is much faster as compared with the iPad 3 and has a tremendously high score at its Geekbench result. In fact, as compared with any other devices in the market, nothing beats the performance of the Apple iPad 4.

iPhone 5 Tethered Jailbreak Possibly Needing Dev Account

The iPhone 5 might be the longest iPhone device that has made into production without any jailbreak tools released for it yet. However, it doesn’t mean that efforts hasn’t been made to jailbreak the device. It is just that we have yet to see the outcome of it. Planetbeing, which is one of the prominent names in the jailbreaking industry had mentioned that a jailbreak solution will soon be discovered. However, it comes with a catch and that is in the form of an Apple developer account.

A tweet by Planetbeing mentioned that a kernel exploit has been upgraded to work on the iPhone 5. It will not be having untethered support but rather a full tethered jailbreak instead. It needs a developer account which would cost user around $99. However, if the problem lies from registering the device’s UDID, you can get that particular fix for at least $7 as there are many websites that are currently selling them.

In addition to Planetbeing, pod2g also mentioned that the iPhone 5 jailbreak should be available in a couple of weeks’ time. Hopefully, by then, we would be seeing an untethered jailbreak instead. It should be interesting to see how this progresses as time passes.
