Apple launches iOS 5 beta 4 and iTunes 10.5 beta 4, brings the OTA update and Wi-Fi Sync on Windows

by Costea Lestoc on July 23, 2011

During last night Apple released iOS 5 beta 4 for the owners of apple devices along with iTunes beta 4 for Windows and Mac OS X. In this update Apple has implemented for the first time the possibility to make an OTA update directly from the phone for the new version of the operating system.

OTA Update or Over-The-Air allows us to update only new components of the operating system directly from the phone without having to use iTunes.

Unfortunately this system update does not work on jailbroken devices so if you did jailbreak on iOS 5 beta 4, you should not try to do OTA update because will not work.

iOS 5 beta 4 brings finally the possibility to sync your devices with iTunes via Wi-Fi but more about this feature we will discuss later in another post. You can install iOS 5 beta 4 in your terminal only if you get the newest iOS from a developer of applications for iOS. Last version of iOS 5 beta was released a week ago.

Stay tuned, we will keep you updated with the latest information about this.
